Only things I have to add are, in full size airplanes a stabilized approach is emphasized, meaning as you roll out on final if the speed, alignment, and descent rate are not working out then go around early. That applies well to RC especially large scale and jets. Crosswind, even airliners use the crab and kick. Adjust heading to maintain runway centerline and at the last possible moment apply just enough rudder to straighten out the nose to prevent sideloading the gear.
