The fuselage bottom is a planning hull with a step like the pontoons. It is easier to build, less complex and less drag.

They all work fine in fresh water. DO NOT use them in salt water.

I was working with a guy some years back that was developing a ultrasonic telemetry system for under water. I think it would possibly be a great way to control the plane in sub mode. It’s been in the back of my head for a while to build an underwater vehicle run on this system. Only two controls needed under water as you need to surface to empty the bilge / float tanks. Or go full nerd and compress some air to to be used to empty the floats. I have no idea what a small compressor costs or weighs. Other thought was move the rear prop motor well forward on a shaft. or why not move it too a pod in he conning tower.
