As Model Airplane News celebrates its 96-year anniversary, it’s a great time to reflect on some RC history. Countless inventions and developments have propelled the RC airplane hobby to new heights. As I recall, reeds were introduced to allow controlling multiple surfaces. Most RC’s of the time were single channel, rudder only full travel actuated by an escapement. Single channel RC’s were set up to climb; altitude decreased by rudder that dropped the nose in a turn.
